About Xunturas
The name Xunturas has its origins in the works of Argentinian artist Xul Solar, who was also an unmatched linguist. Part of his linguistic prowess was the creation of two languages, neocriollo and panlengua, as a way to unite all Latin America. In these languages, he mixes and shortens words.
Amongst these words, a particular one jumped out at me: junturas1. But, for this project, I figured that this word warranted a little alteration —swapping the j for a x meant that xunturas could be pronounced in many different ways in Spanish2.
Everyone can pronounce it as they desire:
There’s no right or wrong way to pronounce Xunturas. Indeed, the way each person pronounces it tells part of their story.
As to the meaning of the word, junturas means unions. But it evokes the combination of many words, like cultures, mixtures, togetherness.
